Trips up Haleakalá
The Haleakala Silversword is critically endangered. They live to be 50-90 years old, and at the end of their lifespan, they bloom and release their seeds (background).
Crater at night. I planned this photo to be around 10pm where the (half) moon would illuminate the landscape while being slightly behind me. The moons position is also key for hiding satellites in the sky because they reflect its light.
The Big Island in the distance.
Haleakala with Jupiter showing high in the picture.
West Maui Mountains and the lower cities.
Everyone who knows me knows that I am putting together a coffee table book of landscape bathrooms.

The only Silversword habitat in the world!

In the Haleakala crater.
We spent a lot of time whale watching because the humpback whales migrate south to here every winter. Some come from washington and all the way up from alaska. While I was working from the airbnb, I would watch the whales blowing all day.
Also brought my road bike. I rode the West Maui Loop and HAleakala.
